Helping people write like humans in the age of AI.

My Story

In 2022, AI took my job. Almost.

Since I was a child, I'd dreamt of becoming a writer. I was especially interested in fiction; it was my escape from a world I didn't particularly enjoy living in. While my friends outgrew their childhood hobbies, I never outgrew mine. Writing was my breathing.

When I grew up, I went on to study English Literature for my undergrad and Creative Writing for my postgrad. Despite being told by every friend and stranger in my life that it was impossible I'd ever make money from writing, I did.

After my Master's in Creative Writing, I started reaching out to indie authors, offering to proofread and copyedit their books in exchange for testimonials. Slowly, those testimonials turned into paid projects. Within a year, I was earning enough to live comfortably in London, something I’d once thought impossible for a freelance editor.

At first, AI tools like Grammarly and ProWritingAid felt like allies. They helped writers express themselves more clearly and made my work as an editor more efficient. But then came 2022 and the birth of ChatGPT.

Suddenly, the freelance market was flooded. Clients began comparing human editors to algorithms that could churn out text in seconds. Rates plummeted. Projects vanished. Overnight, my carefully built career began to crumble.

I had to make difficult decisions. But I wasn't ready to head back home just yet. I took up an unfilling job and continued exploring how I can survive as a writer and editor in the world of AI. For months, I resented AI. It felt like the enemy, an unstoppable wave that had erased years of hard work.

But eventually, I realised something. AI didn’t take my creativity. It didn’t take my curiosity, or my voice, or my understanding of people and stories. It just changed the way the world writes.

Now, I see it differently. AI isn’t my competition, it’s my collaborator. It’s not yet capable of replacing the human touch, the emotional depth, or the lived experience that makes writing art. Someday, maybe it will be. But not today.

Today, I’m teaching people to use AI in their writing, to adapt, evolve, and create something even stronger. Because good writing isn’t about resisting change, it’s about transforming with it.
